BRIEF
After seven years learning the millinery trade from a French master, May is branching out on her own to make unique and high quality hats for men and women and needed a name, logo and brand rollout for her new business.
IDEA
‘Modiste Moderne’ is French, translating to ‘A Modern Milliner.’ Millinery as a trade dates back to the French aristocracy when there was a Ministry of Millinery. The name acknowledges the history and tradition of hatmaking and her tutelage in France, but also allows her to branch out and make hats her style, her way. The logo is designed to be an interplay of modernity and classic elegance, understanding elegance is an attitude and fashion is a way for men and women, young and old, to
express themselves and make a statement.
